Whichever way you look at it, Tees Hazari was a brutal place to practise law. No one took prisoners. You fought to kill and lived to fight. People who pulled punches or hesitated before delivering the fatal blow basically lost. There were no prizes for second-best. Coming as i did from a privileged, protected environment, I was bewildered by the mercilessness of it all.
