What unfold in the novel is a kurukshetra war between good and evil. On the one side are well-meaning men and women of science prepared to go to any length to see their dream take shape. On the other we have evil men of opportunistic politics, their henchmen, the so-called scientists they have managed to woo to their side with material incentives and the award-reward carrot. The spirit of the epic is invoked to highlight the issues involved.
